Mayfly & Icecave Mixtape

Mayfly because well it’s May and the flies are coming, and Icecave because it’s still cold in my apartment. I’m caught right between thermal socks and flip flops. But we’re here to talk about music, not bitch about the weather!

This mix is basically most of what I am listening to right now, a lot of it fairly new so I hope you haven’t heard some of this stuff before. It is pretty jammy, by that I mean it’s more conventional than any other mixtape I’ve put together so far. Definitely some beat loops in here, but I wouldn’t put something in if it weren’t worth the wait.

Head-bopping is sure to happen, I seem to be able to work pretty well with this sort of thing in the background.

Super happy with most of Robyn’s new album, Body Talk Pt. 1, as well as the single from Kelis, Acapella. Actually I love the video to Acapella, when Kelis coronates herself with a crown of ferns over a video loop. I was first sold on Kelis when she redid Oceanaia with Bjork – what a voice.
